An Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system adapts to terrain and conditions in an instant, Active City Stop automatically applies the brakes at low speed to prevent a collision and Ford SYNC reads out text messages and gives you hands-free control of your music, calls and much more. The Kuga boasts innovative hands-free tailgate technology. It’s so easy to operate, even with your hands full, simply wave your foot under the bumper and the tailgate will open and close.

 

Packed full of many more innovative features, the Kuga takes SUV (Smart Utility Vehicle) styling and technology to a whole new level.

 

For instant grip on changing terrain

The Kuga’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system instantly reacts and adjusts to changing terrain. It sends precisely the right amount of power to the individual wheels that need the most grip. As the system is ‘on demand’, it only activates when it’s needed, which saves fuel when the road is less challenging. And if you want to see how your wheels are performing throughout your journey, the AWD information screen continually displays, on a bar graph, how much torque is being sent to each wheel.

Use up to 10% less fuel with Auto-Start-Stop

When the Kuga is at traffic lights or idling in a queue, this technology automatically switches off the engine and the moment you're ready to move, it restarts. It's ideal if you drive in town, as it can cut your fuel consumption by up to 10%.

 

More grip through corners

The Kuga’s Enhanced Dynamic Cornering Control system (eDCC) accurately controls the distribution of power to both the axles to reduce understeer and improve vehicle control. This makes the car feel more dynamic and responsive.

 

Emergency Assistance

In the unlikely event of an accident and the airbags are triggered, this technology (part of SYNC) can use your mobile to call the emergency services for you and alert them to your location. Emergency Assistance won ‘Best Mobile Innovation for Automotive Transport or Utilities’ at the 2012 Global Mobile Awards.

 

Easier, safer reversing with a Rear View Camera

The Rear View Camera displays whatever’s behind you on a screen built into the centre console. As well as showing you things you might miss, virtual lines guide you into the smallest of spaces.

  • Open and close the power tailgate, even with your hands full

    The hands-free tailgate is really helpful if you have your hands full. Simply wave your foot under the rear bumper of the car and the tailgate will automatically open or close. The system uses two sensors under the rear bumper that recognise when your foot breaks their electric field. A signal is then sent to your vehicle requesting the tailgate to open or close. This system will only work when you have your KeyFree key-fob with you.

  • Driver Alert tells you when you’re getting tired

    Driver Alert constantly monitors your driving behaviour and is designed to detect any changes caused by fatigue. If you're getting tired, a warning icon appears in the display, suggesting you take a break. This technology also won a prestigious Euro NCAP Advanced Reward.

  • Ford Easy-Fuel, for foolproof filling-up

    This makes it almost impossible to put the wrong fuel in your car, because the wrong nozzle simply won’t fit. And as Ford Easy-Fuel is a capless system, you’ll never have to handle a dirty fuel cap again.
